Caroline Morgan Di Giovanni has long been a vital voice in literary Toronto, known for her editorial work on three landmark anthologies: Italian Canadian Voices: An Anthology of Poetry and Prose (1984), Italian Canadian Voices: A Literary Anthology (2006), and Bravo! A Selection of Prose and Poetry by Italian Canadian Writers (2012).
With Personal Mysteries, she turns inward, offering a vivid and deeply personal collection of poetry that explores spiritual insight, emotional depth, and the resilience of the human soul. Written in distinct, individual voices, these poems travel across time and place—from medieval seascapes to modern war zones, from childhood memories to biblical reflections.
Di Giovanni’s language is lyrical and grounded, bringing to life stories of faith, loss, joy, and transformation. Whether capturing a refugee’s arrival, the quiet of a spring garden, or the wisdom of women re-reading sacred texts, her poems invite readers into a space where the personal meets the eternal.
